CAREEL BAY VS COLLAROY CHALLENGE

The second running of the adult Collaroy Challenge held on Sunday 4th May, was a great success, with 20 competitors from each Club enjoying a terrific day of tennis and socialising. Collaroy members were keen to match the CBTC hospitality displayed at the inaugural Challenge at our courts last year, so turned on a wonderful spread of afternoon food, pizza and lamb & salads for dinner. Thanks to our ladies for providing all the very yummy desserts.

Our 10 mixed teams played some excellent tennis during the afternoon’s eight-game sets. With a possible 40 points available to each team (ie, winning all their five matches 8-0), congrats to our leading combo Paula & Bruce Scheffers who scored a total of 29 points. At the completion of 400 games, Careel Bay retained the trophy 216 games to 184.

Thanks to Club Captain Andrej for his organisation, to President Steve Koolloos for displaying excellence in CBTC flag waving and to all the members who represented our Club so well. A big thank you to Collaroy for their hospitality. Both Clubs are keen to continue to foster what has become a really strong relationship.
