christmas party & award winners

Around 80 members had a wonderful night at last weekend’s Christmas party at Bilgola Surf Club. The scene was set with a perfect balmy summer’s evening, a gentle nor’easter and that gorgeous ocean view.

Two awards are presented every year at the Christmas Party.  Club Captain Andrej Budja announced the winner of the Most Improved Player Award, which has been presented annually since 1980.

This year’s winner is Tony D’Aquino, who received the trophy from the 2024 recipient Phil Kelloway. Tony has made a real effort to improve his tennis this year with coaching, joining a comp team and attending weekend social more regularly and the results are really showing on the court, so he was a very worthy winner. 

 Congratulations Tony - no pressure when you step on court now!  

The second presentation is the CBTC Club Spirit award, for contribution to the Club off the court.  The fourth recipient is Angie Webster.

Angie is a multi-Championship winner and while no longer able to play, still loves the game and the Club. She has served on the Committee, the Selection Committee and the Social Committee, is a constant presence at all Club Championships as the Official Operator of the score-board, a one-woman Rules Committee and enthusiastic cheer squad to everyone in their on-court efforts, whether good or ‘unlucky’. 

Angie started the annual Trivia Night (with Chrissie & Roly) and enjoys nothing better than befuddling everyone with her pesky questions. Angie you really are the embodiment of the CBTC Club Spirit! Congratulations.
